When did we go from a childhood to adulthood mentality?
And why is it important to keep an open mind and get back to your curious state of exploring life?
From a young age, we’re told to behave in a certain way.
This turns into how we dress, politically align, eat, speak, and so on.
Some moment in time, we begin to forget the play that’s inside of us, and turn to our conformed beliefs instead.
There is trouble with this.
And the more autonomous we become from our behavior, the worse our environment gets.
“Every human has four endowments — self awareness, conscience, independent will and creative imagination. These give us the ultimate human freedom… The power to choose, to respond, to change.” Stephen Covey
When we begin to bring awareness to ourselves, we unite the power of consciousness as a vessel for change.
So how do we become aware?
1. Begin with gratitude.
Albert Einstein was known to give appreciation a hundred times every day to others for his accomplishments.
Gratitude provides you with a state of relaxation and stability.
With so many studies showing all of the benefits, it’s become ubiquitous for a reason; it works.
2. Practice encouragement.
Self confidence is a tool to better mental health, resulting in a better life.
“Change your thoughts and you change your world.” Norman Vincent Peale
By taking control of your own situation, you are much more able and willing to help others in need.
3. Express and attract love.
“Like attracts like” the law of attraction
Have you ever had a bad day and sure enough it gets worse unless you take a break?
Or you’re having a great day where everything positive seems to be happening to you?
Both of those circumstances are because of you.
Margaret Paul mentions a good point in her article, “Relationships: Why You Attract Who You Attract.”
She talks about how the value you bring to yourself, in return, draws people who value themselves. This then attracts people to you who want to share their love, rather than only get love from you.
I support this and know that in our definition of ourselves, we have the ability to shine our greatest truth and enjoy the successes and fulfillment we all deserve.
Is your amount of self-love high enough for the amount of love you wish to receive?
In the end, choice is power.
And it’s always yours to have.
